It does an excellent job and I always look forward to using it again in my rotation. One thing to keep in mind tho, tips are not super soft due to hair grade, and also a bit scrubby which is what I liked the most in this brush.

This is an impeccable shaving brush: dense and soft and really quite enormous. The only problem lies with the owner, I can’t seem to get the balance right between water and cream. Having been used to much smaller brushes the adjustment isn’t really happening yet. Three weeks in and I have twigged that it drinks water like a camel and not to wring it out. And that it eats cream like I eat chocolate. It’s the balance of these two I’m not quite getting.
Still, that’s the user, the brush is really wonderful and a delight merely to own.

Ashley M, if you’re still contemplating this brush, all I can say is, buy it; you will NOT be disappointed! And it has a bulb-like shape to the loft very similar to the Colonel X2L.

The ‘ Chubby 2’ is a fabulous brush – very thick and luxuriant but stiff enough in the backbone for excellent control. They are expensive but they are arguably the best available today – how much is that worth to you ?

Excellent brush in most ways I can think of: soft, yet firm; INCREDIBLE water retention; good heat retention; and most of all makes lathering any of the six or so soaps I’ve tried it on so far no effort at all. My wife has declared it worth the investment in view of the decreased time spent lathering…
